Job Introduction

Colas are responsible for the eight-year Maintenance & Response contract for National Highways Area 9. The contract covers around 2,300 miles of Strategic Road Network within Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, and Shropshire, as well as parts of Gloucestershire, Derbyshire, and Leicestershire. We deliver cyclical maintenance, reactive maintenance, incident response, severe weather response and minor works in a region that has five strategically critical motorway interchange junctions, as well as being at the heart of the new HS2 network. Area 9 is a critical transport hub enabling customer journeys across the UK.

At Colas, we are looking for someone to join the team in a Business Support role based at our Hilton Park Depot in Shareshill, Wolverhampton, WV11 2AT. The Business Support role is responsible to produce data and analytical reports to support the operational delivery of the Area 9 Contract including recording and monitoring reporting of all key performance indicators. You will provide administrative support to the operational teams including meetings and investigations.

Main Responsibility

As Business Support, you will provide administrative support, organise meetings and coordinate calendars and appointments to operations teams. You will provide departmental support in preparation of; monthly reports, business plans, presentations & ad hoc requested reports. You will write and issue minutes and ongoing action logs for any senior management team meetings. You will support purchasing and planning to ensure effective stock management. You will be required to liaise with suppliers, ordering parts in the most cost-effective way in line with engineering requirements and challenging discrepancies. You will be responsible for the administrative support with all related on-boarding of new starters, H&S, Training and HR departmental reports and records. You will raise POs and task orders and manage any daily administrative tasks, for example typing, scanning/photocopying. You will be required to carry out other appropriate duties as assigned by line manager. Ensure that all operations carried out within area of responsibility are undertaken with full regard for safety of visitors, other members of staff and yourself.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience of highways maintenance operations or other operational background and typically 2+ years experience of working within the highways industry, this is desirable not essential. You will be highly organised with an excellent attention to detail and meticulous approach and be adaptable and flexible to cope with the variety of responsibilities involved and to suit peaks and troughs in work load. A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
