Description ACCIONA is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor (12-month placement) based in our North London Heat and Power Project in Edmonton. Sandwich Year/Graduate Placement.

REQUIREMENT: You must have a DEGREE or WORKING TOWARDS A DEGREE in QUANTITY SURVEYING.

Role and Mission: The role involves working on site on the North London Heat and Power Project in Acciona’s project offices. You will be working with the contracts and commercial team, which consists of a team of quantity surveyors.

Main responsibilities:
The role involves supporting the commercial management of the Engineer, Procure and Construct (EPC) contract with the Purchaser and supply chain subcontracts to ensure the overall financial success of a project. This includes:
• procurement and placement of subcontracts and supply contracts;
• remeasurement of subcontract works and valuation of work in progress;
• monitoring and reporting on subcontractor and supplier progress;
• forecasting completion of works quantities and value of subcontracts;
• preparation of applications for payment;
• preparation of payment certificates and pay less notices;
• preparation of/responding to variations;
• preparation of/responding to claims;
• contract administration; and
• cost analysis and reporting.

The project consists of a wide array of technical disciplines from heavy civil engineering to the mechanical erection of a boiler and pressure systems to complex instrumentation and controls. Thus, you will be required to liaise with different professional disciplines within the project team, client representatives and subcontractors and build an understanding of how a waste to energy facility and the individual subsystems work and are operated in practice.

You will work with the EPC Contract, which is based on an IChemeE Red Book, and a variety of forms of subcontract and develop an understanding of the law relating to construction contracts. You will work with and develop skills in the use of various computer-based systems such as cost control and payment software, document management systems and 3D models.
